Joe Altieri, owner of FlexScreen, featured his one-of-a-kind product at our Wallside booth – and drew the attention of WDIV-TV cameras. “FlexScreen is the first flexible window screen,” Altieri told the local news station. “You don’t see the screen in your window. Pops right in and pops right out. It flexes.”
Altieri knows windows. He sold windows for nearly 20 years before he invented FlexScreen and founded his own company. And when he did, Wallside Windows proudly became his first customer.

FlexScreen is earning some well-deserved national attention these days, too. Fans of the hit ABC show Shark Tank may have seen Altieri successfully pitch his business to investors. The Pittsburgh native and inventor was featured on Season 11, Episode 10 of the show.

Altieri asked the Sharks to invest $800,000 in FlexScreen’s growth, in exchange for a 6 percent stake in his business. He walked out with a deal worth $400,000 with an additional $400,000 in credit and stake in the business.
“I am here today to show you a better way,” he said on the show. “This is FlexScreen. The world’s first and only flexible screen. FlexScreen is an industry disruptor and absolutely everything you could want in a window screen. So who wants to join the FlexScreen revolution and help millions of people enjoy their view?”
Altieri demonstrated how the product works, how its structure is strong and flexible. And he explained that FlexScreen’s frame is modeled out of garage door spring material.
“I just started messing around in my garage trying to come up with something that wouldn’t get damaged as easily,” he told the Sharks.
With that, the offers came in – from Barbara Corcoran, Kevin “Mr. Wonderful” O’Leary and Lori Grenier.
“We had a couple of sharks that saw the genius in Flex Screen and wanted to bring FlexScreen to all of the homeowners,” said Altieri. “We had three of them fighting over us and we finally partnered with Lori Grenier.”
Why Grenier? Altieri said he was confident in her connections in the hardware space.
“This is going to change everything about our company and partnering with Lori is going to be fantastic,” he said. “Just so excited I can’t contain myself.”
