For more than 75 years, Wallside Windows has been a company focused on treating its customers right and providing them with the best products. So it’s not too surprising that so much of our growth over the years has been thanks to referrals from happy customers.
Angie Laesser, Wallside’s accounting clerk and referral coordinator, has handled referrals for 14 of the 15 years she’s been with the company. She said at least half of customers go on to refer people they know to Wallside.
“Once you find a reputable company that stands by their work, it’s easy to spread the word to others,” she said.
Some customers repeatedly send referrals to the Taylor, Michigan-based vinyl replacement window company. Angie said one specifically stands out.
“Kathleen D. She owns a condo and refers us to everyone in her association. I would say she has collected enough to cover her window purchase from December 2002,” Angie said.
Part of the reason Wallside’s referral program is such a success is because it’s so simple and transparent. Most often, a customer fills out a referral card with their salesperson, or the salesperson leaves the card behind for the customer to mail in. A customer can also go online and fill out a referral form for a Wallside salesperson to follow up on. And still others call Angie with their referral information — or find another way to pass it along.
“I’ve even taken referral information from a McDonalds napkin that was turned in,” she said.
Plus, there are no time restrictions on the program.
“A customer can mention a friend they referred at any time after purchase. We will always look into the job. If a check hadn’t gone out, we will issue one,” Angie said. “We will always compensate someone for referring us to a new customer. Our company holds true to their work and we like to compensate our customers for trusting us with their family and friends.”
That compensation is $50 for each complete job over $900 and $100 for each complete job over $3,500 that a customer recommended.

“I’ve dealt with rebates and referral bonuses through other companies, and I can honestly say I have never had the easy experience that we offer here at Wallside,” Angie said. “I’ve had rebates refused because it was out of the date range, or the dollar amount didn’t qualify, or lost in transit, where I have left their company feeling ripped off. Wallside doesn’t do that. We are all about quality work and customer satisfaction.”
