It’s no secret that October is breast cancer awareness month – the ideal time to raise awareness and support research and prevention for a disease that can change our lives and our families forever.
The community-minded employees at Wallside Windows did their part this week with a first-ever Pink Out.
On Oct. 22, The Wallside Factory transformed into a sea of pink. Employees were asked to “wear as much pink as possible to show support and raise awareness for those who have survived, those who are fighting and those who have lost their battle with breast cancer.”
This first-ever pink out included a special pink backdrop and photo props so employees could take photos and make great memories with their co-workers for this meaningful cause. Breast cancer is known to be the second most common cancer among women. The American Cancer Society estimated an expected 271,270 new cases of breast cancer in 2019.
The Wallside Windows Pink Out was spearheaded by Christie Ball. She is coordinating this effort alongside fellow Wallside employees Angie Laesser and Michelle Tyler.
Laesser, a Taylor resident who participates in many community initiatives at Wallside Windows, was happy to help coordinate the Pink Out this year. “Many of us know someone or they themselves have had to fight this battle,” she said. “Wallside is such a giving and supportive company. I love to get my coworkers involved.”
The Wallside staff also collected voluntary donations on Oct. 22 to support the American Cancer Society.
