For the third year in a row, Michigan-based family-owned Wallside Windows has shown its support for the 5K Run/Walk, I Ran the D. The event is sponsored by Fox Sports Detroit and DTE Energy.

According to Chief of Staff Adam Blanck of Wallside Windows, employees have participated in I Ran the D since the event debuted in Detroit. It benefits the Detroit Tigers Foundation, which aims to enhance lives through the game of baseball with a focus on youth, education and recreation.

Carrie McClung, who works with Wallside Windows in customer service and schedules installers, was among participants this year. She enjoyed the chance to “hang out with co-workers, take a nice stroll around Detroit and just chat about everything and anything,” she said.

“When I got to the finish line my son was there with his family,” McClung recalled. “I took pictures with the grand kids in front of the finish line. Then, they saw me on the big screen in Comerica Park!”

It was a highlight of her day during I Ran the D. She also enjoyed the camaraderie of being there with her Wallside co-workers. “It just adds to the fact that Wallside is a great place to work because you always feel like family,” she said.

The April 29 charitable event at Comerica Park sold out this year. And the sunny spring temperatures made an appearance among participants too.

The race itself welcomes runners and walkers at all levels, and offers the one-of-a-kind experience of running on the concourse and onto the field at Comerica Park. “It’s a great outing for employees to have fun and be active,” added Blanck.

Wallside Windows company and staff consistently show support and involvement in the community. The family-owned window replacement business recently supported Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day with a safe ride partnership with Lyft. Wallside is a longtime partner of Life Remodeled, making a difference for homeowners right here in Detroit. And employees of Wallside Windows are encouraged to give back to organizations they support, including veterans causes.

So, it’s no surprise that a day out to run or walk while supporting youth programming and anti-bullying efforts like this one appealed to the Wallside team as well. Learn more about the 2018 I Ran the D and future events here and join Wallside Windows next time.
