First pitch at Tigers game celebrates 75 years of Wallside Windows

“Put me in,” said Wallside Windows Co-Owner Stanford Blanck just before tossing out the first pitch to open Tuesday’s Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park.

It marked a memorable night for Wallside Windows, a family-run Michigan company celebrating 75 years in business.

“It was the experience of a lifetime,” Blanck said. “Because it’s our 75th year and we’ve been good partners with Fox Sports Detroit for more than 20 years I was excited to do it.”

Blanck prepared for it too – tossing some practice pitches on site at Wallside Windows’ Taylor Factory before the big game. Throwing out the opening pitch was something he’d always wanted to do. Employees and friends cheered him on as he took to the pitcher’s mound. Blanck told Fox Sport Detroit he was ready to go.

“The arm’s nice and loose and I’m ready to go,” he said.

Stanford Blanck wasn’t the first member of the Wallside Windows family to have this honor. His son, Adam Blanck is chief of staff at Wallside Windows and has partnered with the Tigers and Fox Sport Detroit to toss out a pitch before. Now they can compare notes on a rare opportunity in a town and for a team that they love.

“As father and son, it’s really a great bond we’ve shared since I have been born,” said Adam Blanck, when interviewed on Fox Sports Detroit.

Nice job, Stanford! Even the Tigers mascot, Paws, thought that was a good pitch.

That support of the Detroit Tigers runs strong throughout the company. Stanford Blanck said he is proud to be a loyal partner to the team and he has faith in the Detroit Tigers. His company has sponsored the Wallside Windows Pitching Change with Fox Sports Detroit during the Tigers telecasts for over 20 years. Every time a new pitcher is up, regardless of the team, Tigers fans across the state of Michigan hear the name Wallside Windows.

“It’s allowed us really to give back to the Detroit community and strengthen our bond to Detroit fans everywhere,” Adam Blanck told Fox Sports Detroit of the partnership. “It’s exciting to hear our name on the Tigers broadcast.”
