What makes a good television commercial?
When it comes to Wallside Windows, it’s authenticity.
“We haven’t had to make it up,” said Ross Lerner of Lerner Advertising. “It’s real.”
Lerner would know. He’s been working on Wallside ads for 27 years. But his favorite part hasn’t been any one particular ad -- it’s been working closely with the entire Wallside Windows family.
“They are as genuine as the work we do,” he said. “They are hardworking. The family is all involved. That’s what’s translated over to their business.”
Lerner credits Wallside founder Martin Blanck with having the vision and foresight to use television advertising to further the company. “He realized early on that TV was a powerful medium,” Lerner said. “He had a sense for how to use it. He was clearly a good marketer. I like to think this is what put them in the public eye. They were not shy about talking about what they do.”
From the beginning, Lerner’s goal with Wallside Windows was to be authentic. That’s why Wallside ads don’t use actors. The people you see on TV are the same people who work on the road, in the factory and at your home every single day.
“We toot our horn because we’re proud of it,” Lerner said of the vision behind the ads. “I think people recognize them as a trusted player and as a leader.”
So, after 27 years, what’s Lerner’s favorite Wallside ad?
“The last one,” he said with a laugh. “We just did a real nice campaign utilizing all their people in the factory, on the road, installers and administrative staff, and we had a great time. They do what they say they do. They truly are a very close group. They treat people like they’re family or they’re friends.
“That came through in this last campaign big time. They walk the walk.”
